Employment First Committee

The Employment First Committee is a statutorily created body which is responsible for identifying and promoting strategies that increase the number of individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities who engage in competitive integrated employment. As of July 1, 2024, this committee was designated to the newly created Employment First Office under the California Health and Human Services Agency. This new, permanent state office is responsible for facilitating the consistent and complete interpretation and implementation of Employment First Policy across the many state agencies and departments providing services to the intellectual and developmental disabilities community.
