I have a part-time job and have transportation, so I can get to work on my own. I have a few personal assistants that drive me to outings. We go out into the community to do the things that I enjoy when I want to do them, not on someone else’s schedule.

He is in the Self-Determination Program (SDP). Kion is an independent thinker, sensitive to sound, lights, tastes, and smells. He is persistent, rule bound, and very friendly. Kion is currently on a children’s team in Modesto. Kion started the Self-Determination Program May 1, 2022.

I’m in the Visalia office. I’m in charge of networking and advocating for all of the people that we serve.  I’m meeting as many elected officials as I can, like Mayors, Vice Mayors, City Council Members, Assemblymembers, etc. RICV received two proclamations for National Disability Employment Awareness Month and one for Disability Awareness Month.

I got involved in this new Self-Determination Program and learned about it through Far Northern Regional Center and the State Council on Developmental Disabilities. I was appointed to the Self-Determination Advisory Committee and now I’m the Chair.

Being successful starts even before I have to work, it starts with my uniform and arranging transportation through Access. I always schedule a little early so I can be on time even if there is traffic or the driver is late. Being on time is part of being professional.
