National Disability Employment Awareness Month
The State Council on Developmental Disabilities (SCDD, Council) is proud to recognize each October as ‘National Disability Employment Awareness Month’ (NDEAM).
As part of the Council’s strategic 5-year State Plan, SCDD’s year-round employment-related efforts have educated, supported, and highlighted self-advocates, along with their strengths and achievements in building a stronger economy through employment. SCDD’s employment advocacy in communities throughout California continues to expose employers, service and support agencies, and family members of people with intellectual, developmental and other disabilities to the many benefits of hiring and retaining employees with disabilities.
This October, the Council is celebrating NDEAM by participating in a series of four (4) webinars, in collaboration with its National Expansion of Employment Opportunities Network (NEON) Community of Practice (CoP). SCDD is also hosting another three (3) events, including a SSAN (Statewide Self-Advocacy Network) webinar, a Council-facilitated focus group for self-advocates, and an NDEAM Townhall.
Please join and celebrate with us as we recognize self-advocates throughout the state in finding employment and supportive opportunities for greater financial independence and inclusion within California’s communities. Additional details and registration information for October’s NDEAM activities may be found below:
