A family member or adult self-advocate can provide transportation service or arrange for an individual to provide the transportation service. The family must show financial need and justify that this service will enable the individual to remain living in the family home. For families of minors, the costs cannot exceed the amount that the family would pay for a minor child without disabilities.

You own a lift-equipped van for your son who uses a wheelchair. You are willing to drive him to and from his day program on a daily basis. You would need to get paid to cover gas and related transportation costs. This arrangement is in your child's IPP and the regional center has agreed to fund it.
