Can my SDP budget help with one-time costs when I move into my own home?

SCDD Description

One-time set-up costs for someone moving from an institution into their own home in the community, when needed for health, safety, and basic living needs.

DDS Description

Transition/Set-Up Expenses are one-time, non-recurring costs that support individuals transitioning from an institutional setting into their own home in the community. Services may include security deposits, moving expenses, utility set-up fees, health and safety-related cleaning, and essential household furnishings needed to establish a safe and functional living environment. These supports may be authorized up to 180 days prior to discharge, but are not considered complete until the participant leaves the institution and is enrolled in the SDP waiver. Excluded costs are ongoing living expenses, including rent, mortgage payments, regular utilities, food, and entertainment items. Items purchased remain the property of the participant.

Example

A participant moving into an apartment receives help with basic household set-up items needed to live safely.
