If I live on SSI, am I eligible for any other cash benefits?

SCDD Description

SSI is a federal cash program for people aged 65 or older, blind or disabled. California may add to the federal amount through the State Supplementary Payment Program (SSP). If you live in a more restrictive setting like a board and care you may not qualify. The SSP payment is provided so that you don't end up in more restrictive settings.

 DDS Description

Allocation of funds to ensure that consumers living independently are not placed in a more restrictive setting due to SSI/SSP reductions.

 Example

The federal rate is currently $994 per month. The current SSP amount added to that is $239.94 per month, for a total cash benefit combining SSI and SSP of $1,233.94 per month.
