Can skilled nursing be included if I need medical care from a licensed nurse?

SCDD Description

Nursing services provided by a licensed nurse, within the nurse’s scope of practice, for adults age 21 and over when medically necessary and included in the plan of care.

DDS Description

Services listed in the plan of care which are within the scope of the State’s Nurse Practice Act and are provided by a registered professional nurse, or licensed practical or vocational nurse under the supervision of a registered nurse, licensed to practice in the State. Skilled nursing is only provided to individuals age 21 and over. All medically necessary skilled nursing services for children under the age of 21 are covered in the state plan pursuant to EPSDT benefit. Skilled nursing services will not supplant services available through the approved Medicaid State plan under the home health benefit or the EPSDT benefit.

Example

A participant receives nursing support for medication-related needs, health monitoring, or other skilled care listed in the care plan.
