What is a staff-operated small family home?

SCDD Description

A licensed “Small Family Home” where up to six children with developmental disabilities live. This service code refers to a home where staff live in the home with self-advocates, but the owner does not.

 DDS Description

Care homes that provide a safe place for consumers to live. They are licensed homes that have 24-hour support staff.

 Example

A person owns two homes. They live in one and had the other licensed to serve up to six children with developmental disabilities. Since the owner does not live there, they hired staff to live in that home so staff are there whenever the children are there.
