What is an owner-operated small family home?

SCDD Description

A licensed “Small Family Home” where up to six children with developmental disabilities live. “Owner operated” refers to a home where the owner also lives and may have additional staff.

 DDS Description

Care homes that provide a safe place for consumers to live. They are licensed homes that have 24-hour support staff.

 Example

A person owns a home that they want to turn into a residence for children with developmental disabilities. They plan to live there, be the caregiver, and also hire additional staff to help out. The home has been licensed for up to six children.
