As a self-advocate, can I be vendored to pay directly a nurse who I think is really good?

SCDD Description

A self-advocate or the parents of a minor may be vendored to select a qualified nurse to provide services who may also be a family member. This service is not intended to provide respite to the family member.

 DDS Description

A family member–directed nursing service allows a family member to select, manage, or provide nursing care for a consumer, as long as it is not used for respite. The person providing care must meet required qualifications under California regulations.

 Example

You are a self-advocate or the parent of a minor and you have found a nurse you really like. You are vendored by the regional center to purchase and pay directly for the services of a qualified nurse of your own choosing.
