Where can I get help to learn skills to be more independent?

SCDD Description

Program or business that assists adult self-advocates to learn skills to be more independent. May be provided in the family home or in your own home/apartment, etc.

 DDS Description

Training for persons with an intellectual/developmental disability to learn and improve home and community life skills. Services may be provided in the consumer's home, family home or residential facility.

 Example

You want to be more independent and want to learn how to plan meals, budget, grocery shop, cook and similar skills. The independent living program sets up a schedule for a staff member to work with you on these skills.
