Can I get short-term support during a crisis to keep everyone safe?

SCDD Description

Short-term specialized support and behavior intervention to protect the participant or others, support caregivers, and stabilize a crisis using positive approaches.

DDS Description

A specialized short-term service that provides behavioral and therapeutic support to participants experiencing acute behavioral, emotional, or social challenges that may place them at risk of institutionalization or loss of community placement. Services also support caregivers and protect others in the home. Services may include crisis assessment, intervention planning, 24-hour mobile crisis response, behavioral support, caregiver training, staff consultation, data collection, and transition planning. Supports are individualized, evidence-based, and designed to strengthen the participant's self-help, adaptive, and social skills while promoting health, safety, and continued community living.

Example

A crisis support provider helps a family develop immediate safety strategies after serious behavioral escalation at home.
