Can I choose social recreation, camp, or non-medical therapy supports that help me participate in the community?

SCDD Description

Participant-Directed Social Recreation, Camp, and Non-Medical Therapies may be purchased through a Financial Management Service when the provider is not vendored by the regional center and mainly serves people who do not receive regional center services. Services must be identified in the IPP, including type, amount, and estimated cost.

 DDS Description

Social recreation, camp, and non-medical therapy services can be purchased through a Financial Management Service (FMS) when the provider is not vendored and primarily serves the general public.

The FMS pays providers directly (not families), and services must be identified in the Individual Program Plan (IPP), including type, amount, and estimated cost.

 Example

You want to attend a city recreation class, YMCA program, summer camp, dance class, or music activity that supports your social skills, wellness, and community participation. The FMS pays the provider directly when the service is approved.
